The aim of the Cambridge IGCSE Latin syllabus is to improve the ability of learners to understand Latin, leading to the understanding of the impact of Latin on modern European languages. Learners also build an analytical approach to language learning by comparing the structure of Latin with other languages. In their social and historical background, they are learning Latin prose and verse literature, and are encouraged to create a personal response to what they read. This will create an understanding of a different time and society, and an awareness of the heritage of Rome to the modern world.
