Prophet's conduct in treaties

Paper-1

Prophet's conduct in treaties
After the migration of Medina, there was a significant step taken by our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) to bring sustainable peace in the life of the people of Medina. There were some Jew tribes settled in the areas outside the Medina. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) started dialogues with them and brought them to sign a treaty with Muslims. This treaty was called the charter of Medina. According to this charter, both parties were agreed to respect the rights of each other in every aspect of life. In case of an attack on Medina, both the parties will defend the Medina. Jews were allowed to perform all their activities. They were just bound to follow the foreign policies made by our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

We can easily analyze that these steps show the peace-loving nature of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) who allowed Non-Muslims to practice their religion in Medina. This treaty also shows that our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) didn’t consider Jews as the enemies of the Muslims till they broke the treaty. It also shows the sincerity of Muslims with the treaty.

The second treaty signed under the leadership of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was the treaty of Hudaiybiah. This treaty was signed between the Quraish and the Muslims. There were some unfair conditions set by the Quraish but our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) showed patience and accepted their unfair conditions as well. The people of Mecca were against the Muslims. They persecuted the Muslims for a long time but our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) showed that Muslims are peaceful people by signing this treaty even with some unfair conditions against Muslims.

There was a condition that if any person from Quraish accepted Islam and joined the Muslims, he will be returned but if any person from the Muslims joined the Quraish, he will not be returned. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) accepted that condition. Before the treaty was signed, Hazrat Abu Jandal joined the Muslims and ask for help. He had accepted Islam. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) asked him to face the condition with patience. Abu Jandal was returned to Quraish although the treaty was not signed on that time our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) openheartedly accepted the conditions of Quraish and fulfilled from the side of Muslims.
