Services of Ali and Abu Sufiyan during the life of Prophet

Hazrat Ali bin Abi Talib (R.A)

Hazrat Ali was the son of Abu Talib who was the uncle of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). He was also from Banu Hashim, the branch of tribe Quraish. He accepted Islam when he was just 9 years old. He spent many years in the company of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as he was taken by our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) from his uncle, Abu Talib. He was also from the first converts of Islam. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) also declared him as his brother. Our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) also gave his daughter, Fatima, in the nikah of Hazrat Ali.
He slept on the bed of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) when he migrated to Medina. Hazrat Ali returned the belongings to the owners and then went to Medina.
Hazrat Ali took part in the battles and proved the bravery on the battlefields. He killed a leader or Mecca, Walid bin Mughaira, in the battle of Badr. He also defeated the Jews and killed Marhab when they were not defeated for many days.
Hazrat Ali was also included in those people who were scribes of the divine messages. Once our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said that “I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate”.  As a scribe of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), he wrote the draft of the treaty of Hudaibiya.
Once our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said to Hazrat Ali that “You are to me as Harun was to Musa except that there will be no Prophet after me”.

Abu Sufyan bin Harb

Abu Sufyan belonged to Banu Ummayah as his real name was Sakhr bin Harb bin Ummayah. He was a leading merchant of Mecca. Initially, He was one of the leading opponents of Islam. He was the person behind the battle of Badr as he spread the rumor that his caravan was under threat so that the people of Mecca prepared themselves to fight with the Muslims. After the killing of many leaders of Quraish in the battle of Badr, he was elected as leader of Quraish.
He accepted Islam after the conquest of Mecca. After that our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) gave him special status and announced that those, who will enter the house of Abu Sufyan, will be sheltered. After accepting Islam, he took part in the battles along with the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). He also lost one of his eyes in one of those battles. His daughter Umme Habiba Ramala became Mother of faithful (Ummul Momineen) as our Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) married her while his son got martyrdom in a battle against non-believers. He also narrated about 100 hadith. At the age of 83, he passed away in the 32nd year of Hijri.
